20 August | Orange Wine Master Class & Tasting

Discover the captivating world of orange wine at an exclusive Master Class on Wednesday, August 20, at theLAB Porto. From 18h30 to 20h, wine expert Ryan Opaz, whose photography is featured in the book Amber Revolution, and co-wrote Foot Trodden,  will guide you through an educational and tasting event.

The master class is designed for those interested in amber wines but know nothing about them, and those with great experience tipping back many glasses of this winemaking style. It will be a unique opportunity to delve into the history and production of skin-contact white wines. This focused tasting will highlight five exceptional examples of this winemaking style, showcasing producers from Portugal and Georgia, the birthplace of orange wine. Ryan will lead the group through a detailed exploration of each bottle, helping participants understand the unique characteristics and nuanced flavors that define these wines. Space for this event is limited, so early booking is recommended. Join us for an evening of learning and discovery as you expand your palate and knowledge of orange wine. The master class promises to be an engaging experience, offering a chance to taste some truly distinct and memorable wines.

• Aphros - Phaunus Amphora Loureiro: A Portuguese orange wine fermented in beeswax-lined amphorae.
• Bojo do Luar - Tez: A Portuguese blend with a complex bouquet and a mineral acidity.
• Penhó Wines - Verbum Arinto: An amber-colored Portuguese wine with nutty aromas and a balanced structure.
• Quinta de Tourais - 2023 - Miura Branco de Curtimenta: A Douro wine with fresh, ripe stone fruit and soft tannins.
• Iago Kartli - Chinuri: A Georgian wine fermented and aged in traditional qvevri, showing salty and savory notes.
