Conceito's Bastardo Tinto is a single-varietal wine showcasing the unique character of the Bastardo grape, a lesser-known indigenous variety of the Douro Valley. The grapes for this wine are sourced from old vines planted on steep, terraced slopes, where they benefit from the region's unique microclimate and challenging growing conditions.

The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and undergo a traditional winemaking process. After gentle destemming and crushing, the grapes are fermented using foot-treading in granite lagares and large stone vats. This ancient method of fermentation extracts color, tannins, and flavor compounds from the skins, resulting in a wine with intense character.

Following fermentation, the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for several months. This period allows the wine to settle and develop its complexity. The final blend is bottled without filtration, preserving its natural character and sediment.

Conceito's Bastardo Tinto is a powerful and structured wine. It has a deep ruby color and intense aromas of dark berries, spice, and earth. The wine is full-bodied and tannic on the palate, with flavors of black cherry, plum, and licorice. The high acidity provides a refreshing balance to the wine's richness, ensuring a long and satisfying finish.

This wine is a testament to the versatility and quality of the Bastardo grape, and it offers a glimpse into the traditional winemaking methods of the Douro Valley.
