The wine is a field blend that reflects the diverse genetic heritage of the Douro's high-altitude vineyards. It is crafted primarily from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, and Viosinho. This combination of a powerhouse red variety (Touriga), a juicy, fruit-forward red (Tinta Barroca), and a high-acid white (Viosinho) is what creates the vibrant red color while maintaining a light, ethereal body.

The viticulture follows the core Grau Baumé ethos of minimum intervention. The grapes are sourced from schist-heavy soils where the vines are dry-farmed. Manual harvesting into small crates is essential here, as it allows the winemakers to control the press and ensure that the co-fermentation of red and white grapes begins with pristine fruit, preserving the delicate aromatics that define the ancestral method.

Sustainability is at the forefront of production, with a focus on chemical-free vineyard management and gravity-led winemaking. The wine is bottled during its initial fermentation to trap the natural carbon dioxide, a process fueled exclusively by indigenous yeasts present on the grape skins. No sulfur is added, and the wine is not disgorged, meaning the lees remain in the bottle. This practice not only adds texture and protection to the wine but also aligns with the producers' goal of creating a "living" product that is as close to the vineyard as possible.

To the eye, the wine shows a bright, hazy ruby or deep pink hue. The nose is a playful mix of fresh red berries, such as wild raspberry and pomegranate, layered with the citrus lift from the Viosinho. Because of the white grapes in the blend and the early harvest, the palate is electric and remarkably fresh, avoiding the heavy tannins typical of the region. It features a fine, creamy mousse and a savory, slightly yeasty finish with a distinct saline minerality. It is best served chilled to highlight its crunchy acidity and energetic profile.
