A fascinating glimpse into the future of Portuguese whisky. As an unaged spirit, it represents the pure, foundational character of their malted barley, captured before the influence of a barrel mellows it. The spirit is made from the "hearts" cut of the single malt distillation, a meticulous selection that ensures only the distillate's cleanest and most desirable part. This expression is intended as a versatile spirit for cocktails or as a vibrant alternative to a traditional single malt.

On the nose, this Aguardente presents a distinctive blend of floral and spicy notes, underpinned by a prominent biscuity and grainy aroma that speaks directly to its barley origin. The palate echoes these notes, delivering a clean, crisp taste with lively spiciness. The underlying malt character is evident throughout, offering a barley foundation and a sense of fresh, cereal sweetness. The spirit finishes with a refreshing and clean crispness, leaving a lingering, slightly floral, spicy warmth. It is a bold and unadulterated spirit that provides a clear window into the high-quality base from which Little Faca's future aged whiskies will emerge.

Little Faca

Little Faca is a distinctive and innovative micro-distillery project situated in the vibrant heart of Porto, Portugal. Co-owned by the couple Tom and Raquel, this small-batch producer operates from a compact 25-square-metre space. They meticulously craft a range of distilled drinks and liqueurs using a selection of fine Portuguese ingredients.

As one of the pioneers in the nascent field of Portuguese craft whisky, Little Faca has already embarked on its inaugural whisky project. They have laid down their first barrels, which are made from the heirloom Portuguese red corn known as 'Milho Rei'. The distillery, which began its production in March 2023, anticipates the release of this initial aged spirit in early 2027. The founders are also building more whisky stocks from other locally grown cereals, including rye and additional varieties of corn sourced from the North of Portugal.

Beyond their ambitious whisky venture, Little Faca has cultivated a creative and diverse spirits portfolio. Their gin, for instance, is a unique blend of Portuguese tangerine and olives, while their limoncello features zesty lemons harvested directly from their garden. Another notable creation is their imaginative Olive Liqueur. The distillery also welcomes visitors to their tasting room, where they can sample and purchase the products directly, offering a personal and immersive experience into the world of Little Faca.
