Quevedo's 2017 Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port is a noteworthy expression of the Douro Valley's viniculture, crafted by the Quevedo family, who are known for their commitment to quality and tradition in winemaking. This LBV is sourced from the winery's quintas located in Vale d’Agodinho and Trovisca, regions characterized by their unique micro-climates that contribute to the complexity of the wines produced.

The primary grape varieties used in this LBV are traditional Portuguese varietals, with a focus on those that thrive in the Douro's terraced vineyards. The grapes undergo a meticulous selection process, ensuring that only the best fruit is used for this vintage. The wine is aged partly in tank and partly in wood, allowing it to develop a balance of freshness and depth.

Tasting notes for the 2017 Quevedo LBV reveal a vibrant profile. The wine exhibits a saturated ruby color, with an aromatic bouquet dominated by fresh violet notes intermingled with dark cherries and subtle spices. On the palate, it is characterized by a full-bodied presence of red fruits, complemented by a light and lifted texture. While it may not be the richest LBV from Quevedo, it stands out for its focus, length on the finish, and expressive character, making it enjoyable both immediately and with potential for further aging.

Quevedo

The feeling of optimism and the word of passion are carved into the Quevedo family, who have been grape growers and port producers for 5 generations. Despite trying times, Oscar Sr. found the brand Quevedo in 1993, which started a new era for the family, since they could bottle port under their own label. While this was great news for the family, as the upcoming generation, Claudia and Oscar Jr. had very different career paths in mind. Claudia fell in love with wine since her youth and she wanted to be a winemaker, even though her parents were skeptical about it. After completing her studies at Vila Real she joined Oscar Sr. in 1999 as a winemaker and ensured that the business had a future in the family.
