Quinta de Tourais - Miura Tinto Bowie

Sale price€19,99

Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout

This red Douro wine, a homage to David Bowie himself, is a blend primarily of Jaen and Alicante Bouschet grapes with a touch of Touriga Franca and old vine grapes thrown in for complexity. Sourced from schistose soils that experience harsh winters and hot, dry summers, the grapes are hand-harvested in early September. Vinification stays true to tradition, with fermentation occurring in stone lagares with indigenous yeasts and foot treading. Following fermentation, the wine spends 12 months aging in used French oak barrels, resulting in a complex and fragrant aroma with well-defined notes of black fruit, subtle earth tones, and seamlessly integrated oak. On the palate, it's elegant and fresh with balanced acidity and soft tannins, making for a truly captivating drinking experience.

Quinta de Tourais

Fernando Coelho is the face of Quinta de Tourais, a family-owned estate that has been in the family for four generations. The estate itself has a history dating back to the time of the Cistercian order, spanning all the way back to the 17th century. Fernando was previously a restaurant owner, but he decided to shift his focus and began making his first wines back in '99. However, his winemaking style has evolved over time. As his experience grew, so did his concerns, leading him to become a minimal-intervention producer.
