The Dão region's geography is critical to the wine's character. The wine's specific vines are grown in the region's signature granitic soils. These soils are nutrient-poor and highly permeable, forcing the old vines to dig deep for water. This process concentrates flavor in the grapes and is the primary reason for the wine's notable acidity and pronounced minerality. The Alfrocheiro grape is prized for its naturally vibrant color, rich red fruit aromatics, and fine, elegant tannins.

Revela’s commitment to minimal intervention is a core part of their philosophy. This dedication extends from the vineyard, where they promote biodiversity and avoid chemical products, to the cellar. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure quality. Instead of using cultured yeasts, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation, a natural process driven by native yeasts on the grape skins and in the cellar. This is a crucial step in maintaining the wine's authentic character. The decision to ferment and age the wine entirely in stainless steel tanks is also intentional. This practice avoids adding any secondary aromas from oak, such as vanilla or toast, allowing the fruit's pure expression and the terroir's mineral notes to shine through. The final product is a natural wine, with no fining or filtration, which can result in some natural sedimentation over time.
