A traditional-method sparkling wine made exclusively from Arinto, a grape well-suited for high-acid, long-aging wines. Sourced from the Lisboa region, where the cool Atlantic climate and limestone-rich soils help retain freshness, this espumante is structured, mineral-driven, and built for immediate enjoyment and aging potential.
Grapes were harvested early, before their aromatic profile had fully developed, resulting in a neutral, high-acid base wine with vegetal undertones. The primary fermentation took place in stainless steel, preserving the grape’s freshness, followed by an extended period of lees aging to enhance complexity and texture. The secondary fermentation in the bottle, following the método clássico, resulted in a fine, persistent mousse. The Extra Bruto classification (very low dosage) ensures a dry, precise, and terroir-expressive style.
The pale yellow color and delicate bubbles reflect its careful vinification. Aromatically, it leans towards citrus, fresh lime, and subtle autolytic notes of biscuit and bread dough. Its high acidity, saline minerality, and long, structured finish define the palate.
This wine speaks to the potential of Portuguese spumante, showcasing Hugo Mendes’ approach to precision winemaking and respect for terroir.
