A blend of predominantly Portuguese indigenous varieties showcasing the unique terroir of the Dão region. 95% of the blend comprises tinta varieties, with Jaen leading at 60%, followed by Baga, Tinta Roriz, Trincadeira, Camarate, and Mourisco. The remaining 5% is a field blend of white grapes, including Fernao Pires, Malvasia Fina, Malvasia Rei, and Uva Cão, adding complexity and nuance.
The wine undergoes a careful aging process, spending 12 months in used French oak barrels. This period allows for subtle oak influence to integrate with the vibrant fruit character of the blend, resulting in a complex and approachable wine.
On the nose, the wine displays aromas of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberry and plum, interwoven with notes of spice, dried herbs, and a touch of earthy undertones. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides a refreshing counterpoint to the fruit. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of dark fruit and spice.
