A unique 2017 white wine born from a cooler and wetter year in Alentejo compared to the previous one. While November to February saw more rain and colder temperatures, overall, the year fell within the region's 18-year averages. Spring brought warmer weather, advancing the grapes' development cycle. The hot and dry summer ensured healthy fruit while an earlier-than-usual cool down in August and September accelerated ripening. This resulted in higher sugar levels in the grapes, translating to a fuller-bodied white wine. The grapes, a blend of Diagalves varietals, were grown in open fields with sandy soil. The winemaking process embraces tradition. After destemming, fermentation occurs in clay amphorae (talhas) coated with pine pitch, utilizing indigenous yeasts. The wine rests on the lees until late November, extracting further complexity. Following pressing, the wine sees a brief aging period in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
