A limited-edition red wine crafted with meticulous care by Saravá Wines, a boutique producer based in the Vinho Verde region of Portugal. Only 700 bottles were made, underscoring its artisanal nature. The wine is produced exclusively from 100% Espadeiro grapes, a native varietal known for its vibrant acidity and delicate structure. After destemming, the grapes undergo fermentation in open tanks, a technique that encourages greater flavor extraction and preserves the grape’s natural character. Once pressed, the wine rests for three months in stainless steel tanks, allowing it to settle and develop without the influence of oak, keeping the profile fresh and pure.

The philosophy behind Saravá Wines is rooted in minimal intervention and sustainability. Founders Miguel Viseu and Leli Viseu bring a blend of Portuguese winemaking tradition and Brazilian entrepreneurial spirit to the project, emphasizing organic viticulture and low-sulfite production. Their approach allows the Espadeiro grape to speak for itself, showcasing the terroir of Ponte de Lima with clarity and authenticity. The wine is bottled without filtration and with extremely low levels of added sulfites, reflecting the producer’s commitment to natural winemaking.

On the palate, Saravá Espadeiro Tinto is light-bodied yet expressive, with a bright ruby hue and a lively aromatic profile. Expect notes of wild red berries, cranberry, and subtle herbal undertones, all carried by a crisp acidity that makes it exceptionally food-friendly. The finish is clean and refreshing, with a gentle tannic grip that adds structure without overwhelming the fruit. It’s a wine that invites casual sipping but rewards thoughtful appreciation, especially when paired with grilled vegetables, cured meats, or lightly spiced dishes.
